June The meeting and ride to Cottonport went well. This was the largest club ride to date. The notes of the meeting
are available in the members section.Club dues will be due by January 1st of 2009. If anyone has suggestions for a ride in
July please contact an officer or road captain, we are trying to set up multiple rides to accommodate our different schedules.
The updated total for our burn run was $2,200.00 thank you to all our vendors and members for your help. We will begin planning
for our 2009 run in October of this year.
May The 5th Annual
Benefit ride was held this year at the Conference on the Greens in Alexandria on the 17th with a good turn out. Thanks to
all of the sponsors and riders, we were able to raise $2000.00 for Camp I'm Still Me. We will be presenting the check
on June 10th with the Shreveport Chapter.
Thanks to all of the members that helped out at this years ride
Jan.
Time for the 2008 dues,
contact Phil. Every member needs to try and attend the Feb. meeting to discuss the BKMC Pineville Annual Benefit Ride.
If anyone needs any Motorcycle Awareness signs, decals, etc.. contact Will. The Pineville Chapter of BKMC has been promoting
Motorcycle Awareness for the past couple of months with radio ads.
I'm in the process of updating the photo pages,
if anyone has any photos of recent rides please let me know.
Nov. 29th
Be sure to listen for
our motorcyle awareness public service announcment on FM103.5.
The club had a good turnout for the meeting and
support for the POB Toy Run on Nov.17th. Don't forget the ABATE Toy Run on Dec.1st, hopefully the weather will be
warmer this year than it was last year. This is a fun ride beginning in Pineville and ending in Colfax where Gumbo will be
served.
November 5th:
Anyone member
needing a BKMC T-Shirt needs to contact Mike. We will have T-Shirts for sale at all of the upcoming meetings.
Sept 15th
The September meeeting
was held at the Holiday Village VFD in Pineville with a small turnout, seems that some members would rather watch LSU play
instead of coming to a meeting, hard to believe. The meeting was very quiet and productive this time with only one Officer
showing up.
We are selling raffle tickets to help with the cost of this years Christmas party so everyone needs
to try and sell as many as possible. The drawing will be held at La. Archery on Nov. 3rd at 11:00 A.M..
On Sept
29th several members will be attending the Dr. Hook concert at the Harley shop, if you don't know who Dr. Hook is ask
Paw Paw Don.
July. 28th
To
those who missed the July Ride you missed a chance to have your bike washed and take a shower at the same time. Our group
of ten bikes left out of sunny Alexandria at 11:45 headed to the Pioneer Pub when we were soon met by rain outside of Boyce.
Stayed that way pretty much the whole ride, showers then sun.
Just a reminder to those that decide to get out of the
rain by crawling under a parked semi trailer, watch out for the grease on the trailer pin.
July 9th
I
see that several members have their pictures in the June & July Thunder Roads magazine.
June 23rd & 24th
Several members
made the meeting and ride to Renegade for the MDA Benefit.
Plans are being made to rent a cabin for the Jefferson TX.,
Boo Benefit in October, if you are planning on making the event give me a call. We need to get the cabin reserved as
soon as possible.
One of our members, "Paw Paw" Don was involved in an accident after the Renegade
ride when a car decided to pull out in front of him at an intersection. Don's bike wasn't hurt mainly because he was
on Jeremy's bike at the time. Other than missing a little skin, a few holes in the arm, and part of a tattoo missing Don
is fine. Guess he should have stayed in the nursing home that day.
On the 24th several members made the ride to
Toledo Bend and met up with the Shreveport Chapter for lunch at the Cypress Bend Lodge. Nice day for a ride but had to avoid
flying parts off of Sam's bike.
June 9th
Several members
made the ride to the Biker Barn in Sunset, La. to participate in the benefit poker run to help raise money for a local burn
victim. These are the types of rides that let everyone know what the Brothers Keepers are about. Thanks to everyone that came
out to make the ride in the heat .
May 19th
Thanks to all of the members that helped at the 3rd
Annual Benefit Ride. This years ride had fewer bikes due to conflicting dates with other rides, but plent of money was raised
to help the Christmas with a Trooper Program.
Everyone enjoyed the cooler weather this year and enjoyed the
new ride route that was taken. I hope everyone took advantage of having their bike blessed at this years event thanks to the
CMA.
If you have any complaints or ideas about this years ride let me know, we will begin planning for 2008 in
October.
May 8th Meeting
The May meeting
was held to discuss the upcoming Benefit Ride ( See Meetings Page ) and general club business.
Bottom Rockers
were given to Billy and Charles Hinson who have exceeded the required 10 point minimum.
Anyone wanting to
have a ride with 5 or more members need to contact a Road Capt. to get the five sanctioned ride points.
May 5th
On May 5th several members made the ride to Eunice to help support the Vietnam Veteran Poker Run. Even
though we did not participate in the run due to the time allowed everyone had a good time and filled up on cracklins.
The second half of the day, (a little longer for some members) was spent at the Wolf's den in Marksville supporting
the ABATE rally. We had a few members that competed in the games, but most just ended up covered in mustard. There was a member
that competed in the weeny bite contest by HIMself. I can't give his name but he was a good "Sport" about it.
I'm sure that there are several pictures out there for those that were not there to see it in person.
Shreveport Burn Run 07
The
BKMC Shreveport Annual Burn Run looked like a big sucsess this year.
I would like to thank all of the members that made
the ride up and helped our Shreveport Brothers out.
I think we may have a few members that will qualify to work
at McDonalds after seeing them sell burgers and Barbeque plates. To those that spent a couple of nights there,
I know how much you want to thank Sport for his loud pipes and Tony for not snoring.
Next overnight ride everyone
needs to bring their pushing shoes just in case Paw Paw Don shows up.
